Why we print opinions

The manifesto · Siobhan Knight

There is a specific kind of silence that happens when everyone in the room is thinking the same thing and nobody wants to be the one to say it. We make shirts for the person who says it.

Siobhan Knight started from a simple hunch. The most memorable thing you can wear is a good sentence. Not a logo, not a brand you paid to advertise for free, an actual opinion with a point of view and a sense of humor.

Some of it is political. Some of it is just wordplay that makes a music teacher laugh and everyone else slowly nod. The common thread is that it says something. If a shirt could be replaced by a blank shirt without losing anything, we did not make it.

So yes, you might start a conversation at the grocery store. That is the idea. Consider the shirt an icebreaker with opinions.

How to pick a shirt that starts something

A short guide · Siobhan Knight

Rule one. The best slogan is the one you would actually say out loud, just louder and in bolder type. If you would mutter it at a family dinner, it belongs on cotton.

Rule two. Specific beats generic every time. Anyone can wear a vague vibe. It takes commitment to wear a full sentence with a lighthouse on it.

Rule three. Comfort matters, because a great line you never wear helps no one. We put the writing on blanks people actually reach for, then get out of the way.

Rule four. If it makes you smirk in the mirror, buy it. That smirk is the entire product.
